My Vision for Findlay
Putting People First is more than the motto for my campaign; it is the foundation of what my administration will believe in and try to achieve. The needs of the people who make Findlay and Hancock County a great place to live should always be at the forefront of our ventures. From looking at and seeking companies to establish themselves within our community and who will offer a real living wage to employees…to maintaining the city’s critical infrastructure and services…to taking on crime, flooding, and our economic and social outreach programs…my administration, and an improved city council, should ask themselves a simple question: what is in the community’s best interest…what do the people want?
My friends, this election is not about me…this election is about YOU...the wonderful men, women and children of this area. For all the issues and challenges we face, your future, and the future of those who contribute to the success of our community, should not be mired in despair and helplessness. As we look forward to this November, it is very important to remember what this area means to each of us, and how we can all make it better. Our community has proven time and time again that it is special…we have infinite hope and endless potential. We are at a crossroads, and need to take the next steps in the evolution of our community…it is time to take what we currently have in place and improve the quality of life for all.
It is a credit to all of us that Findlay-Hancock County has twice been nationally recognized as one of the top 100 best communities for youth. But I look around, and I wonder “What about everybody else”? What about the young adults, families and senior citizens? Is this the “best” place for them to live? And if not, why?
Is Findlay the best place for corporations, industry and small business owners to work and set-up shop? And if not, why?
Is Findlay the best place for providing safe streets, being in synergy with the environment, or for providing educational and employment opportunities for all? Once again I ask…if not, why?
Our community has the knowledge, the skill, and the commitment needed to work together to make this the best place for everyone to live and to be the best place for everyone to call home. It should be our mission...it should be our mandate...it should be our collective will to make sure we are the best we can be. We have taken pride in our community, and are right for doing so; we are proud of being a great community for kids, and proud for the decisions and sacrifices we have made that allows us to be a great place to live and a destination for commerce.
Findlay has certainly grown over the years...but our best is yet to come! Let's improve upon what we have in place and continue the trend of being a 'best community'...for seniors, for families, for the environment, for small businesses...a best community for everyone!
I ask the community to join me in asking city council to maintain a balanced budget, because if people are forced to live within their income, the city should do the same…we need to assure citizens that we will not raise the income tax rate…we need to make sure that companies which seek to do move to our area
will offer our citizens a competitive which will allow them to live, not merely survive…we need to make sure that city council will listen to the people regarding flooding…and a building code…and the rest of the countless issues that have been decided without the input or solicitation of ideas from the community.
To do all of this, however, we need to work together. To be successful, I need your help. Between now and November 6th, I ask you to do three simple things…
Number one, talk to people…tell your family, your friends, co-workers, neighbors, church congregation…anyone you can think of…tell them to join our campaign - the more people you can talk to about what we are trying to achieve, the better.
Number two, be active…write a letter to the editor, put up a yard sign, offer to drive people to the polls on election day - volunteer a little of your time to make a positive difference to affect the outcome on election day.
And number three, I humbly ask for your vote. If you believe I am the right person for the job, someone who will be an advocate for your needs and concerns, and someone who will put people ahead of party or politics make sure you show up on November 6th to cast your ballot for me.
If you don’t think, however, that I’m the best candidate, please let me know. Take a moment to look through this website, or call and talk to me and explain why. I would appreciate the opportunity to speak to you and share with you in more detail my vision for the future.
It is my desire, and one I know all of you share, that all of us…our families, our friends…our neighbors, community leaders and small business owners…all of us need to have, not an opportunity, but the right…the commitment...the willingness to stand up and say in a strong, determined and proud voice: We Will Be Heard!!
I want to you believe in your future…I want you to have hope in your future…I want you to participate in your future. Together, we can do anything and everything. You will not be alone, because I am committed to putting people first...which means putting YOU first! And that is why when I'm mayor, real change will come. |
